Abstract

674,805. Planing. PEGARD, M. Oct. 23, 1950, No. 25754/50. Class 83 (iii). A carrier 1 for a planing &c. tool O, adapted to cut in both directions, comprises two oppositely inclined surfaces P<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>2</SP>, which co-operate with a common planar abutment surface 5 to define the alternate positions of the tool. The tool is rocked about a pivot 2 at each end of the stroke of the table or tool-slide by an electric motor M connected to the pivot 2 by a chain C. The abutment surface 5 is adjusted angularly by an eccentric pin 8 and is locked by screws 7. Two such carriers may be mounted on a common head and one or more such heads may be mounted on a machine. The tool may be rocked by electromagnetic, pneumatic or hydraulic means.
