604,494. Cutting sheet materials. RUDDICK, H. G. Dec. 7, 1945, No. 33217. [Class 31 (i)] [Also in Group XXIII] A cutting or scoring machine for acting upon sheets of plaster board, hardboard, plywood &c. is constructed with a pair of cutting or scoring tools j pivotally mounted and controlled by a spring so as normally to be in a neutral vertical position shown in Fig. 1 and to be moved to active position shown in Fig. 2 by relative motion between the tool j and the work n, which is clamped against a straight edge by a clamps operated by levels w, x. The knives j, k act upon opposite sides of the work, and are carried by slides a, b attached to an endless chain e operated by a wheel g rotated by a handle h. The knives may be stationary and the work moved, and a number of knives may be arranged to operate simultaneously.
