Abstract

580,395. Vehicle wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., LACEY, B. W. D., and WILLCOCKS, H. R. Nov. 1, 1944, No. 21319. [Class 79 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A resilient wheel particularly for use on endless-track railway, and other heavy vehicles, comprises a rubber &c. tyre 4 having a rigid tread-ring 5 bonded thereto, and rigid rings 7 bonded to the rim-engaging portions of the sidewalls. To increase the flexibility of the rubber body, the side-walls and base are formed with re-entrant portions 6, 8 respectively. As shown, the rings 7 are spaced by a ring 4 and clamped between the flanges 12 of a two-part rim 11 adapted for bolt-on attachment to a wheel disc 1.
