Abstract

Class 123(iii) In a multi-circuit steam boiler having, for example, a high temperature circuit 5 and a low temperature circuit 6 including a common steam-and-water drum 1 divided by a baffle or weir plate 2 into two sections 3, 4 associated with the two circuits respectively, cooling water is supplied to a desuperheater 9 by a pipe 14 from the boiler feedwater supply pipe 15, preferably after passage through an economizer, or by a pipe 12 from the drum section 3, where the water has a low'percentage of concentrates, and is discharged by a pipe 13 into the drum section 4 where the water is of higher concentration. The desuperheater is disposed in the installation at a lower level than the drum 1 and the water in the drum section 3 is maintained at a level higher than that of the water in the section 4 so as to ensure circulation of water therethrough during both on-load and off-load periods of the boiler.
