Abstract

837,677. Forced-flow steam boilers. 'SCHRODER, F. G. Nov. 6, 1956 [Nov. 11, 1955], No. 33869/56. Class 123(2) In a steam power installation, two forced-flow, once-through boilers A, B operate in parallel to supply a steam turbine having high and low pressure stages 12, 23 with steam at substantially uniform temperature regardless of differences in heat output between the two boilers. Water is supplied to a pre-heater 4 in the boiler A through a pipe 2 and a valve 3 by a pump 1 and then flows to an evaporator 6 in the boiler B. The steam thus generated passes back to a superheater 8 in the boiler A before flowing by way of a pipe 9 and a valve 10 to a collecting pipe 11 feeding the high pressure stage 12 of the turbine, the pipe 11 also being supplied with steam generated inversely in elements 4<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP> and 8<SP>1</SP>, and supplied by the boiler B. The exhaust steam from the stage 12 of the turbine passes in parallel through the boilers and is reheated in cross-connected elements 15, 17, 19 and 15<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP>, 19<SP>1</SP>, before passing to the low pressure stage 23. The expanded steam from the stage 23 flows through a condenser 24 whence the condensate is returned by a pump 25 to the feed pump 1. In a modification, Fig. 2, the cross-connections between the boilers are controlled by valves so that the boilers may be operated individually if required. In a second modification, Fig. 3, a simplified form of cross-connection is shown.
