Abstract

663,688. Stabilizing devices. MEUBLES ACIEK SOC. ANON. Nov. 22, 1949. [Jan. 26, 1949] No. 29856/49. Class 52 (iii). A tubular leg 1 of a chair contains a slider consisting of a cylinder 2, a rod 3 and a socket 4, the cylinder 2 having a shoulder 5 resting on the ground. A helical spring 6 surrounds the rod 3, pressing at one end on a collar 3a on the rod 3 and at the other end against an abutment 7. A part 8 having a toothed rack 9 is rigidly fixed within the socket 4 and this rack cooperates with another rack 10 on lever 11 within the tube 1 and articulated to it at 12, a passage 13 in the socket 4 allowing the lever to be displaced. The lever is kept in the locking position by a spring 14 and has a part 15 attached by screws 16 projecting out of the tube 1 through opening 17. To operate the device, pressure is applied to part 15 to disengage the racks, the spring 6 urges the slider to the ground and release of the lever locks the slider.
