Abstract

658,095. Furniture adjustments. CORNELIUSSEN, C., and CORNELIUSSEN, E. Oct. 17 1949, No. 26659. [Class 52 (iii)] A longitudinally adjustable leg for a stool or the like comprising a standard displaceably mounted within a sleeve and locked against downward movement by the canting of an annular disc has a pivotally mounted lever to hold the disc in its free or horizontal position. As shown a sleeve 3 surrounding a standard 2 has a spring- loaded disc 4 supported at one side only which moves into an oblique gripping position when the stool 16 is occupied. On fully extending the standard 2 a projection 17 thereon moves the disc to its horizontal position in which it is retained by the nose 11 of a spring-pressed lever 9 while the seat is lowered to the desired position. When the seat is fully lowered a cone 15 engages a projection 12 of the lever 9 which is then moved out of its locking position and the disc 4 then returns to its oblique locking position. In a modification a spring-actuated sleeve is provided within the sleeve 3 on the standard and downward movement of this spring-actuated sleeve moves the lever out of its locking position.
