[Class 8(i)] A hydraulically operated air compressor comprises a closed vessel a having air inlet and outlet valves, a reciprocating water inlet valve o and an oscillating water outlet valve j. The valve is operated through striking pieces k by a forked and weighted lever m which in turn is operated by a float lever x. The valve o is operated by pins u on the striking piece k.
