Abstract

645,441. Compressors. PAULUS, F. March 11, 1948, No. 7503. Convention date, March 13,1947. [Class 8(i)] A hydraulically actuated air compressor comprises two actuating pistons 1 operating in cylinders 2, each connected by rods 3 to bellows compressors 6 having end plates 4 guided in cylinders 7 by rollers 5. The pistons 1 are interconnected by rods 10. A distribution device for gas and water of the oscillating valve type, comprises a cylinder 11 having ports in the front and rear faces communicating through passages and connections in the circumference with a water inlet, a water outlet and the actuating cylinders and an air inlet, an air outlet and the bellows compressors respectively. These ports are controlled by discs 12, 13 having projecting pins 14, 15, oscillated by rods 16, 17 carried on a disc 18. Part of the circumference of the disc 18 is toothed and meshes with a pinion on a shaft 19 which carries a weighted lever 20 and the pinion is oscillated by means of tappets 22 on the rod 10. In a modification the two pump and motor assemblies are mounted side by side.
