762,281. Reciprocating compressors. DOLZ. H. Nov. 10, 1953 [Nov. 24, 1952], No. 31071/53. Class 6(1) In a reciprocating electric motor driven compressor, the end of the cylinder 10 is closed by a spring-loaded valve member 11 so that the piston 8 may overshoot the end of the cylinder. The piston carries an inlet valve 20 and the compression chamber 13 communicates through a restriction 17 with a further chamber 16. Charging may be assisted by means of a plate 22 or in a modification a piston, operating in a cylinder 23 within the motor; this piston is resiliently secured to the rod 7 and acts as a guide. The valve 20 may be replaced by an intake in the cylinder. The piston head and valves 11, 20 may be covered with resilient material.
