[Class 137] [Also in Group XXIX] In a ventilator of the type where a ball 3 has openings 20, 21, on opposite sides and air traverses the ball which is movable in a socket 1, 18, to direct the stream in any direction or reduce or cut off the stream, the opening 21 is fitted with co-axial spaced diffusing elements 44, 45, 47, 49, of which the central one 44 is a disc. The ball is rotatable in the socket 1 by the semi-circular handle 54 attached to the spindle 4, while the socket 1 is rotatable about an axis at right-angles to the spindle by a flange on the socket 1 sliding under a flange 14 on a ring 15 by which the device is attached to a pipe or other means of air supply. The ball may be mounted in the socket 1 by stub spindles, in which case it is rotated by finger contact. The ball is rendered airtight in its socket by a lining 19 of felt, velvet or other material.
