Abstract

698,523. Ventilators. NORVENT, Ltd. July 28. 1952 [July 30, 1951], No. 17971/51. Class 137 Ventilating apparatus for admitting and directing air from a duct 3 into a room, or other enclosure, comprises a socket 1 in the form of a built up ring having a flange for securing it in an opening in the duct, 3 and a curved bore for a ball-shaped nozzle portion 5. A spider 6 extends across a cylindrical bore 4 formed in the nozzle- 5 to receive a rod 7 having a disc valve 9 at one end and an operating knob 8 at the other end. A spring-urged ball 11 is provided to engage notches in the rod 7 for holding the latter in its adjusted position. The nozzle 5 can be moved in its socket with limited universal movement to direct diffused air in the desired direction. When the valve 9 is pushed in to close the bore 4 the nozzle 5 can be rotated so that the valve 9, when withdrawn, will project into the room, the air, in this case. being supplied as a straight jet.
