Abstract

633,524. Rotary pumps. RITE-WAY PRODUCTS CO. Nov. 4, 1947, No. 29432. Convention date, Nov. 12, 1946. [Class 110(ii)] In a vacuum pump a casing 1 has a pumping chamber 17 at one end, the other end being divided by a partition 3 into inlet and outlet compartments 4, 4a and containing a muffler chamber 4c. In one form the pump has a piston rotor 13 which is made to sweep around the chamber 17 through an eccentric 10 and a bearing 16. A sliding-rocking abutment 18 is secured to the rotor and projects between blocks 22, 23. Lubricant flows through passages 24, 26. Oil separated by the material (steel wool, hair or the like) in the muffler, collects in the chamber 4b, and is forced by delivery pressure up a tube 37, through a restriction 38 into the suction chamber, and may impinge on a glass dome 40. A magnet 34 collects iron pieces from the chamber 4b. Strainers 32, 33 are provided. The inlet 5 has a ball 7 which, when the pump is stopped, is forced upwards to a valve seat 9 by delivery pressure to seal off the inlet..Cooling fins 2 are provided. The rotor contains a counterweight 12.
