Abstract
673,201. Compressors. SORENSEN, S. E. Feb. 2, 1950, No. 2748/50. Class 8 (i) A compressor comprises a cylinder c containing a piston b connected to an end 36 surrounding a cam 46 rotated by means of a shaft 47. A bellows a is secured to the piston b and the cylinder c forming a return chamber for the compressed gas. The cylinder c is provided with a head e having a bearing 10 secured thereto and mounted on a shaft 15 to allow the cylinder to oscillate. The return pipe is connected at 54 and gas is drawn into the cylinder through a valve 44 in the piston head. Delivery takes place through a valve 6 and passes through a pipe 59 to a filter g, Fig. 5, comprising three chambers h, h<SP>1</SP>, h<SP>2</SP>. The chamber h<SP>2</SP> contains to the level x oil which is forced by the pressure through a filter 62 and a pipe 63 to lubricating grooves 66 in the piston. The chamber h<SP>1</SP> contains filtering material and the outlet 54 is taken from the chamber h. A counterweight 67 and a fan j are secured to the end 461 of the cam 46. The fan j draws air through a condenser when the pump is used in refrigeration and passes the warm air over the bellows a to obtain better gasification.
