Abstract

832,386. Rotary compressors or motors. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A.B. May 16, 1957 [May 17, 1956], No. 15557/57. Class 110(2). A compressor or motor, of the meshing- screw type, comprising at least two co-operating rotors 20, 22, each having at least three helical intermeshing lands and grooves, has liquid supplied over the working surfaces for cooling, sealing and lubricating purposes. The liquid, sucked in or supplied under pressure, may be oil or water and this is separated out from the gas under delivery pressure. In Fig. 1 the liquid is sprayed into the working chamber through jets 50, 52, the easing 42 being provided with inlet and outlet ports 44, 46 for the gas being compressed. The rotors may be of different materials, for instance one of steel and the other of bronze or a plastic material. In Fig. 5 the interiors of the rotors contain liquid which is forced outwards through duets 80 in the rotor recesses, Fig. 7 (not shown). In another arrangement, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), the rotor ends are provided with annular sealing ribs over which liquid is sprayed through openings 104. The liquid supplied under pressure at the rotor ends tends to balance forces which would otherwise force the rotors axially towards the low pressure end of the casing. In Fig. 15 a compressor 112 is driven directly by an electric motor 114 and compressed air from an outlet 46 is forced through a separator 116 and discharged at 118. Oil is drawn from a supply 120 by means of two pumps 122, 124 and passes through pipes 126, 128, each provided with a cooler 130, 132, to the compressor. Separated oil from the compressor and the separator, passes back to the supply 120.
