Abstract

288,719. Hayden, J. E. G. Jan. 13, 1927. Fixed-abutment type; back-pressure, reducing. -A rotary compressor casing is formed with a curved portion i, f<1> forming with the rotor a half-crescent chamber so shaped that the volume of the intervane space at any point in the compression stroke is proportional to the volume ordinate of the adiabatic compression curve erected on the predetermined pressure range at a point corresponding to the point of the compression stroke. The casing is shown having a portion f, f<1> in contact with the rotor over an are of 90‹, and a portion f, i extending over an are of 90‹ which is open to the inlet g. Fluid leaking through the contacting area passes by ducts k to the beginning of the compression chamber. The vane slots in the rotor are tangential to the rotor shaft and forwardly inclined.
