Abstract

613,974. Anchor nuts. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 28, 1946, No. 19388. Convention date, July 17, 1945. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts of the tubular type for use in blind installations have flanges 12 integral with the barrel 11 and formed with diverging arms 13 bent back to form converging sections 15, again bent at 17 to form retaining lugs 16. The width A is such that the nut is readily inserted through the hole 2 with a snap action. The plate 1 may be dished as shown in Fig. 3 to receive the lugs 16 and the sections 15 are collapsed by action of the bolt 5 permanently to engage the plate 1. The arms 13 are weakened at 18 to localize the bending so that after collapsing to the form shown, Fig. 3, further tightening of the bolt effects locking, due to the resilience of the arms.
