Abstract

581,213. Locking nuts. ROWING, B. C. May 25, 1944, No. 10119. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts are locked by spring clips apertured at O to pass over a non- circular formation on the end of the bolt and having a number of prongs B<1> shaped to enter slots C cut in the faces of the nut. The slots may taper as shown or may be arcuate. In a modification for use with clips having broad prongs a slot is formed across each nut face in a plane perpendicular to the axis. The end of the bolt may be slotted to engage a strip left bridging the hole in the clip and a series of clips may be formed in which this bridge-piece is at various angles to the nut faces.
