[Class 114] The blade 3 of a variable pitch propeller moves radially outward under centrifugal force against the elastic resistance of air contained in a bladder 9. The pressure of this bladder is transmitted by liquid in the cylinder 7, pipe 8 and cylinder 4<SP>1</SP>, acting on the piston 6. Rotation of the blade is caused by the cam slot 12. In a modification the air pressure in the bladder is under the control of the aircraft pilot. In a further modification the cam slot is replaced by a helical screw engaging the blade root.
