Abstract

704,809. Variable pitch propellers. ROTOL, Ltd. Oct. 17, 1952 [Nov. 7, 1951], No. 26109/51. Class 114 A propeller has two sets of blades, one set 6 being capable of use as a brake, whilst the other 7 remains under governor control. The piston 10 actuates the blades 7 under the control of the governor valve 21, this piston also being linked by the rod 37 to a valve 27 in the piston 9 connected to the blades 6. With one setting of the second control valve 24 pressure fluid maintains the spacing of the two pistons and hence the blades follow similar pitch movements. When the connections to the conduits 25, 26 are reversed the valve 27 is moved relative to the piston 9 and hence this piston moves to reverse the blades 6.
