Abstract

596,745. Pedestal supports. EVERTAUT, Ltd., and JAMES, J. N. Aug. 2, 1945, No. 19853. [Class 52(iii)] In a vertically adjustable, telescopic pedestal with an internal, cone-actuated, radially expanding friction grip, the friction elements consist of rollers 14 loosely mounted on pins 15 in a block 10 which is urged upwardly by a spring 16 surrounding an axial rod 9. The rollers ride up a cone 8 on the lower end of the inner telescopic member 2 and grip the outer member 3, and they can be freed by operating a lever 23 to depress the rod 9. Flexible restraining means 27 prevent separation of the adjustable parts.
