Abstract

588,147. Adjustable seats. BOOTH, J. H. Oct. 25, 1944, No. 20727. [Class 52 (ii)] In an adjustable seat of the type which provides mechanical means for adjusting the inclination of the back rest of the seat and permits the tilting forward, by hand, of the back frame without operating or disconnecting the mechanical means, the said mechanical means operates in a plane at right angles to the pivotal axis. As shown, the mechanical means may comprise a nut and screw gear 18, 19 secured to the seat frame 10 and adapted to engage a suitably shaped projecting member attached to the back frame. In a modification, the nut and screw gear engages the back frame projection indirectly through a system of levers 32, 33, or the nut and screw gearing may be replaced by a further manually operable lever provided with suitable locking means.
