[Class 38 (i)] All or part of a cartridge - fuse ele - ment c lies along the inner surface of the heat-resistant glass or windowed container a so that its condition may be observed. The container is filled with preformed insulating blocks b<1>, b', b<5>, such as asbestos, bored or recessed to receive the fuse element, the ends of which are soldered to the end-caps e at d. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the element passes along the periphery of the outer blocks and then diametrically between these blocks and the central block, the intermediate. portion being disposed between the periphery of the block and the container. In Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) the element extends along the inner surface of the container in a single grooved block, its ends passing through eccentric or central holes in the end-caps.
