Abstract

577,142. Check valves. PARKER, A. LA R. Nov. 20, 1943, No. 19425. [Class 135] A check valve for use in hydraulic pressure lines comprises a casing formed by two pipe coupling sleeves 10, 11 screwed together, an outer ring 23 held by the member 10 in a recess in the member 11, an inner ring 24 joined by radial ribs 25 to the outer ring, and a movable valve head 27, the stem 26 of which slides in the ring 24 to constitute a dashpot having a restricted communication with the inside of the casing. The restricted communication is provided by a bleed hole 33 or by seepage between the stem 26 and ring 24. The end of the ring 24 is closed by a plug 29 held in by a pin, &c. 30, and a spring 32 housed in the dashpot urges the valve head to the closed position. A packing washer 16 is provided between the members 10, 11.
