Abstract

576,524. Gyroscopic apparatus. TAYLOR, J. A., and SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1945, No. 20927/43. [Class 97 (iii)] An air jetting device 11 and a reaction block 12 are fixed to the outer gimbal of a gyroscopic instrument, whilst a cut-off device 13 fixed to the inner or rotor bearing gimbal differentially intercepts the jets 11a, 11b on departure of the two gimbal rings from a predetermined angular position, thus giving rise to a torque about the axis of the outer gimbal and a consequent precession of the gyro to restore the position. Caging mechanism as described in Specification 419,816 may be provided.
