Abstract

724,900. Gyroscopic apparatus. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. April 6, 1949 [March 16, 1948], No. 7907/48. Class 97 (3). A gyroscope 1 for the stabilization of a gun is mounted on a platform 9 supported by a shaft 12 having an axis P,P parallel to the gun axis in bearings formed in brackets 7, 8, secured to the gun, and a vertical-seeking gyro 11 maintains the axis Z,Z in a vertical plane containing the axis P,P. The gyro 11 may be a gyro of sufficient size to maintain the gyro 1 in position or it may control the shaft 12 through a servo-motor. Specifications 724,896, [Group XXXVIII], and 724,899 are referred to.
