Abstract

576,225. Fusible cut-outs. WIARD, G. W. Nov. 9, 1943, No. 18628. [Class 38 (i)] A fuse 11 attached to knife blade contacts 9, 10 and enclosed in a casing 2 is secured against rotation by pins 16 extending through the blades 9, 10 and through plugs 4 fitting into the bore of the casing 2 and having flanges 6 abutting against its ends, the pins 16 being recessed half into the flange 6 and half into the casing 2. Ring nuts 17 secure the plugs. The blades 9, 10 pass through slots 7 in the plugs, ventilation of the casing being provided for by notches 21 in the sides of the slots 7 or by holes through the plugs 4. The fuse is attached to the blades 9, 10 by screws or by soldering and a strip of fibre may connect the blades to keep them properly spaced. A paint of iodide of copper and iodide of mercury may be applied to the casing to indicate by change of colour temperature changes in the fuse.
