Abstract

574,364. Rotary pumps. BELL, F. R., JUDSON, C. A., and HAWORTH, L. June 9, 1943, No. 9294. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (ii)] The end faces of the teeth of a gear-wheel pump are inclined so as to present slightly tapering spaces open to the direction of rotation between them and the casing walls. The faces may be chamfered from both tooth faces when the pump is reversible and the faces may be rounded instead of chamfered. In a Roots' blower radial ridges formed on the end faces of the rotor are similarly shaped. The shaft of the gear-wheel pump rotor is only slightly less than the root diameter of the teeth.
