Abstract

333,979. Marshall, L. A. June 7, 1929. Movable-abutment type. -A rotary engine or pump of the Roots blower type has two rotors 9, Figs. 5 and 6, which are keyed on to shafts 7 and drive, or are driven by, external gear-wheels. The stator 2 has hubs 3 which are cut awav at 3a to accommodate the peripheral portions 12 of the rotors. A rotary valve 14 is driven bv one gear-wheel and admits working fluid to either annular working space and the expansion of the fluid acts against faces 13 of the rotors. The fluid is exhausted through a port 20. When used as a pump, the rotary valve 14 is omitted.
