Abstract

265,511. Hall, S. Z. Oct. 30, 1926. Roots' blower type. -Liquid that would otherwise be trapped at the roots of the rotor teeth is led off to the delivery by two separate passages o, o<1>, Fig. 6. The root surfaces are tapered towards the ends of the rotors to facilitate the escape of the fluid to theses passages. The inlet passage c is of equal area throughout and is the full length of the rotors at its inner end. The outlet passage d is similarly shaped. The width of the outlet passage is such that one wall registers with the face of a tooth t<1> on the rotor b when a tooth of the rotor b<1> is tangent to the crown circle of the rotor b. In a reversible pump valves v, v<2>, v<3>, v<4>, Fig. 5, are provided to give the same direction of delivery for both directions of running and two sets of ports o, o<1>, o<2>, o<3> are provided at opposite ends of the casing.
