Abstract
574,040. Lift drives. EXPRESS LIFT CO., Ltd., and DIXIE, W. A. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21456. [Class 78 (v)] A lift &c. hoist comprises a frame-work built up of channel bases 1 on which are mounted side plates 9, 10 of A-form connected together by bracing bars three of which act as fixed shafts for rope pulleys and brake drum. The upper fixed shaft 8 carries a belt pulley 5 driven by V-belts from an outside motor, a rope hoisting sheave 6, and a brake drum 7, the three parts 5, 6, 7 being unitary. The lower fixed shafts 11 are in line and are mounted, so as to be adjustable apart, in horizontal slots in the plates 9 and 10 to suit a particular layout, and are then permanently bolted, welded &c. in position. A diverter sheave 14 for the hoist rope can be mounted on either of the shafts 11 as desired, before the latter are permanently located. Brake shoes 18 are carried by oppositely disposed spring-loaded arms 19 suspended at 20 from the plate 10, and are released from the drum 7 by an electro-magnet 22. The plate 9 is built up of two parts meeting along a medial vertical line, the shaft 8 being bolted to both parts. Recesses from the medial line are formed below the shaft 8 to make a gap through which the driving belts can be removed, each part of the plate 9 being removed and replaced in turn.
