Abstract

954,319. Lift installations. EXPRESS LIFT CO. Ltd. Oct. 12, 1962 [Oct. 24, 1961], No. 38042/61. Heading B8L. The driving equipment of a lift installation is housed in a machine room 1 at one side of the shaft 2 and comprises a driving sheave 6 mounted on the shaft of a motor 5 which is secured to the underside of a pair of parallel beams 9, 10. As shown, the machine room 1 is situated behind the shaft and the suspension ropes 7 pass from the car 3, over pulleys 16, 14, round the sheave 6, back to pulley 14 and then back to the sheave 6, and over a pulley 15 to a counterweight 4. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the machine room 1 is situated in front of the shaft 2 and above the uppermost lift entrance.
