560,357. Internal-combustion engine cylinder heads. OGILVIE, D. A. Dec. 5, 1942, No. 17340. [Class 7 (ii)] A cylinder head for an internal - combustion engine has one inlet and one exhaust valve in a semispherical combustion chamber 10 with central ignition plug at 12 and the inlet and exhaust passages 13, 16 respectively pass almost vertically from the top face 8 of the head to the combustion chamber, the inlet and exhaust ports 14, 17 being disposed at an angle of from 45-60 degrees or thereabouts to a central vertical plane aa. The head has lateral jointing faces 4 so that a multi-cylinder head may be built up by connecting together a number of sections by bolts passing through holes 5, 6. Bolt-holes 9 serve for clamping the head to the cylinder block and the inlet and exhaust connections are secured to the top face 8 by studs 21. The valves are guided at 15, 18. Cooling passages 19 communicate at 20 with cooling passages in the cylinder block.
