555,723. Cooling cylinders. DEHN, F. B. (Continental Motors Corporation). Jan. 9, 1942, No. 356. [Class 7 (ii)] An overhead-valve engine having a valverocker casing 16 overlying the combustion chamber is formed with a cooling air tunnel 27 beneath the casing 16 and between the inlet and exhaust passages 24, 25, and providing a wall 40 of minimum thickness substantially the whole length of the exhaust valve guide. The tunnel is provided with upstanding fins 28, and with fins 29 around the exhaust passage. There are also cooling-fins 23 around the cylinder head.
