[Classes 20 (i) and 20 (ii)] A prefabricated structural unit for use in the construction of hangars, storage sheds and the like is of external pentagonal form and comprises two parallel members 17, 18 joined together at one end by a straight end member 19 and at the other end by a pair of convergent end members 20, 21 forming a re-entrant angle. The member 21 may be continued down to the lower member and the elements forming the unit may be joined together by rivets or bolts and gusset plates. For larger units extra cross and diagonal elements 23, 24, 25 may be incorporated between the parallel members and for inclined stanchions and roof members, the end member 19 may be disposed other than perpendicular to the parallel members. The elements are of channel section of such sizes that the ends of the cross and diagonal elements fit between the flanges of the parallel elements with distance pieces 36 on the bolts where required. For joining inclined roof members to inclined stanchions a pentagonal member as shown in Fig. 5 is used, the elements 40 and 39 being connected to the stanchion and roof member respectively. The spaced framework members for the hut are joined together by purlins 45 of section metal or purlin constructed from suitable pentagonal units as previously described.
