Abstract

1,006,324. Metal building frames and girders; foundations. TRUSTEEL CORPORATION (UNIVERSAL) Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961, No. 35258/61. Headings E1A, E1K and E1S. A complete building framework is built up of metal structural members comprising elongated members having a slot with plane parallel surfaces extending lengthwise from end to end adapted to receive securing elements for other members. Stanchions 3, joists, rafters 40 and collar beams are built up of members 11 spaced apart by plates 12-14 to form the slot. The stanchions 3, Fig. 1, are secured to channel members 1 laid on concrete foundations by inserting plates 12 between cleats 2 and bolting them together. Roof rafters 40 are secured to the top of the stanchions by a jointing pin 34 passing through connecting plates 42, 46 and eaves ties 47 may be similarly secured. Box beam trimmers 62 may support the roof rafters over wall openings. Timber fillets such as 92 may be provided and secured by self-tapping screws entering the longitudinal slots. These fillets allow roof battens and other normal wooden house fittings to be readily attached. All struts, lintels, collar beams, and wind braces are described and are secured together and to the main structural members by means of the plates such as 12-14 connecting the slot forming members.
