Abstract

537,631 Reinforced concrete structures. RUSSELL, A. G. Feb. 21, 1940, No. 3253. [Class 20 (iv)] Lattice and triangulated structures such as girders, trusses &c. are built up of separate preformed reinforced concrete elements which are connected together by bolts and passed through tubes cast in the ends of the elements and associated with the re-inforcement. Such an element comprising longitudinal reinforcement 11 and tubes 12 is shown in Fig. 1, but the re-inforcement may be twisted or looped around the tubes and welded as shown in Fig. 4, and more than one tube may be cast in each end. The specification describes a triangulated roof truss consisting of elements connected by fish plates and bolts and supporting re-inforced concrete purlins, Fig. 6 (not shown), and a lattice girder of N-type similarly assembled, Fig. 9 (not shown). The re-inforcement may be welded to the tubes and may be of larger cross-section in the neighbourhood of the tubes.
