Abstract

555,302. Fixing pipes, rods &c. TRIST & CO., Ltd., R., and ROBBINS, R. A. Feb. 12, 1942, No. 1901. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXIII and XXXVI] Pipes, rods, electric cables &c. 1 are secured in a bulkhead or the like 2, for example on aircraft, by means of an axially-split bush 3 which is fitted over the pipe &c. and into a hole in the bulkhead, to which it is then attached by means of two annular members 6 engaging in grooves 5 in the bush and formed with flanges 7 bearing on the sides of the bulkhead. The bush may be of hard, and the members 6 of soft rubber, either natural or synthetic. When applied to the fixing of electric cables, the bush is provided with an insulating-lining, or is itself made of synthetic resin or other insulating-material. The rubber rings 6 may be replaced by split resilient metal rings, which enter the grooves 5 and bear laterally against washers inserted between the rings and the bulkhead. Where the tubing &c. is angular or non-circular in cross section, for example as in the case of a streamline bracing for an aircraft bulkhead, the bush is correspondingly shaped.
