726,941. Connections for pipes or rods. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., and MOOR, E. July 23, 1952 [July 24, 1951], No. 17540/51. Class 99 (1). [Also in Group XXXVI] The coned end 12 of a member 10 is received in a corresponding recess 19 in a body 18 having an external screw-thread 20 to accommodate a gland nut 14 captive in the axial sense on the member. The nut 14 is provided with a flange 15 engaging one side of a split ring 13 lying in a circumferential groove 11 of the member 10, and with an internal member 16, e.g. a ring screwed into the nut and locked by a grub-screw 17, disposed on the opposite side of the ring 13. The end 12 may taper such that cross-sections at successive points along the axis of the member are similar.
