Abstract

1,113,694. Pipe joints. BRISTOL AEROPLANE PLASTICS Ltd. 20 Aug., 1965 [21 Aug., 1964], No. 35838/65. Heading F2G. A resilient split ring 10, e.g. of epoxy resin reinforced by glass fibre, engages partly in grooves 12 and 14 of a spigot 8 and a socket 6, the groove in either the spigot or the socket being of sufficient depth to receive the entire radial thickness of the ring when the spigot is inserted into the socket. The legs of a U-shaped clip 20 are engaged in holes in the free ends of the ring, the clip being inserted through an opening 16 in the socket and for the purpose of preventing rotation of the ring. A backing strip of polyvinyl chloride may be fed into the clearance space between the ring and the bottom of the groove in the socket, and an 0-ring seal may be situated in a groove in the spigot.
