Abstract
551,095. Valves. HERMANN, R. Oct. 31, 1941, No. 14001. [Class 135] [Also in Group XIII] A valve 22, Fig. 1, may interrupt the circulation between a gas-heated boiler 4 and a storage tank 1 in a hot-water supply system and allow water to flow through the boiler directly to a supply point 25, the boiler then serving as an instantaneous heater. The valve may be fitted in the upflow pipe 2 or in the return pipe 3. The water valve 33, Fig. 5, is operated by a spring-pressed diaphragm 44 in a casing connected on one side of the diaphragm through a tube 54 to a contraction 53 in the hot-water supply pipe 23, so that, when the outlet cock 55 is opened, the reduced pressure at the contraction causes the valve 33 to cut off the water circulation through the upflow pipe 2. A valve controlling the gas supply to a burner heating a further heater in the supply pipe 23 may be operated simultaneously with the hand or diaphragm operated valve 33 controlling the water flow.
