[Class 135] [See also Group XIII] In a steam heating system working at a pressure slightly above atmospheric, the fuel supply to the burner is controlled by connecting the steam pipe to a vessel i, Fig. 2, containing liquid and a float m. Gas passing through a pipe r is controlled according to the steam pressure in the system by means of a stem m<1> on the float which controls a slot s<1> in pipe s. In a modification, Fig. 3, the float m is connected to a valve g in the gas pipe, and an open U-tube n<2> with condensing coil n<1>, is provided to relieve pressure in the system. To prevent damage to the boiler in the event of leakage, a float, Fig. 4, not shown, in a vessel connected to the boiler is adapted to cut off the fuel supply if the level falls too low.
