Abstract
576,602. Valves for water heaters. HELLIWELL, G. Oct. 14, 1944, No. 2952. [Class 135] A valve for controlling the supply of water to a water heater of the type such as is described in Specification 533,317, comprises a hollow body 6 having ports and grooves co-operating with ports in the casing and a washer 14 to control the flow through the inlet 13. The valve spindle 7 is threaded and carries an indicator sleeve 11. In the " off position, the washer 14 engages its seating and in the " cold position, the washer 14 is lifted and water flows through a recess in the valve body, a recess 19 in the casing and port 21 to the outlet 5. In the " warm " position, the water flows through a recess 21A, port 19A to a gas control chamber 2 and passes down port 20, through ports in the valve body to a pipe leading to the heater from which it returns through pipe 4 to the outlet 5. In the " boil " position, the water flows in a similar direction, but the flow from the port 20 is restricted by bringing into register a smaller port in the valve body.
