546,329. Gyroscopic apparatus. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc. Oct. 26, 1940, No. 5576/42. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1939. Divided out of 544,786. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (iii)] The direction of the axis of a gyroscope is controlled by the variation of air jets issuing from the rotor case, the variation being effected by means (a curved baffle shuttle) actuated by a control member (a compass magnet) pivoted about the outer gimbal axis of the gyroscope, the variation of the jets causing application of a torque to the gyroscope about its inner gimbal axis so that the gyroscope follows the control member. The apparatus described in the Specification is also described in Specification 544,786. Specifications 505,900 and 505,901 also are referred to.
