536,066. Sound-directing appliances. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 31, 1939, No. 29091. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1938. [Class 13] [Also in Group XXXIX] A directional microphone comprises a plurality of tubes 1-6 of progressively increasing length on the front side of a sound translating element 8, and an acoustic resistance 9 on its rear side. The acoustic resistance consists of a member 9 in which is a sound absorbent material 10 such as felt. Various forms of the tubes 1-6 and member 9 are described with reference to Figs. 2 to 14 (not shown) amongst which are arrangements in which two sets of tubes operate differentially on the sound translating element. The plurality of tubes 1-6 may be replaced by a single tube having spaced lateral holes, Figs. 15 to 18 (not shown). Specification 479,328 is referred to.
