Abstract

533,575. Grates. CORBETT, E. G. (Mills, E. G.). Aug. 14, 1939, No. 23373. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] Water is heated in a jacket 20 surrounding a combustion chamber 15 and main flue 16 ; and water supplied to the jacket 20 is preliminarily heated in a jacket 21 surrounding a secondary flue 17. A rising flue 18 is fitted with a damper 19 controlled either manually or thermostatically. The fire grate consists of spaced tyred wheels 28 mounted on a shaft 29 carried by brackets 31, and rotated by a hand-wheel 30 ; plates are provided with fingers which project between the wheels to prevent escape of fuel at the front and rear ends of the chamber 15. The upper ends of the jacket 20 are connected by a passage 25.
