Abstract

417,127. Heating water. TROTTER, G. W., Bellerby, Caledonian Road, West Hartlepool, Co. Durham. March 25, 1933, No. 9104. [Class 64 (i).] In a boiler with an enclosed firebox into which fuel is fed from above, the rear side of the firebox is forwardly inclined and rectilinear in side elevation, has apertures distributed over the greater part of its area for the passage of hot gases, and comprises the main surface to be heated, the front face of the firebox having air inlet apertures at its lower part so that the fire zone is inclined upwardly from them to the upper part of the rear face. The rear side of the firebox comprises upper and lower horizontal tubes 4, 5 connected by spaced tubes 7. The tubes 4, 5 communicate with the sides of the boiler which are waterjacketed and are connected to the front of the firebox ; the latter is forwardly inclined and water-jacketed at 8. Horizontal firebars 2, 3 are provided and an upper fuel hopper 10, which may be detachable. Gases finally escape at 6.
