Abstract

531,013. Trimming grinding-wheels. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Soc. Francaise d'Engrenages a Denture Rectifiee). July 8, 1939, No. 19952. [Class 60] A device for trimming grinding wheels, particularly the rounded edges of formed wheels for grinding gears comprises a diamond 13 which is oscillated by hand across the periphery of the wheel over an arc determined by adjustable stops and is mounted on compound slides which are locked by a single locking device. The base 1 has an inclined guideway 4 carrying a lower slide block 2 adjustable by a hand operated screw 19. A top slide 6, adjustable on a guide 8 on the slide 2 by means of a screw 20, has a part 9 provided with a socket 11 in which the holder 12 of the diamond tool 13 is mounted. A handle 14 is secured to the upper end of the tool holder and a split collar 16 adjustable on the part 9 carries a stop which limits the movement of the diamond over the edge of the wheel M. The slide 2 and slide 6 are locked in adjusted position by a bolt 21 the head of which moves in a slot 23 parallel to the guide 4. In a modification the guides 8 and 4 may be perpendicular to each other.
