Abstract

528,869. Knitting. WILDT & CO., Ltd., HOLMES, H. H., and BARRATT, W. H. May 16, 1939, No. 14589. [Class 74 (ii)] To render easily separable articles or pieces knitted in string formation, the plating yarn is withdrawn, knitting on one bed of needles is suspended, and a waste welt formed from the ground yarn. This provides a parting course or zone which can be cut or nicked at one or more points and the yarn drawn out. The plating yarn is fed by a guide 13 clamped in a block 16 screwed at 18 to a part 19 pivoted at 14. The guide is withdrawn by a pattern-controlled link 21. The ground yarn passes through an angular slot which allows it to change its position relatively to the plating yarn during reciprocatory knitting.
