Abstract

1,038,987. Knitting-machines; fabrics. B. PFROMMER. May 14, 1963 [May 16, 1962], No.19011/63. Headings D1C and D1K. A double faced fabric is formed in separate pieces on a circular knitting-machine, the pieces being interconnected by means of a separating thread 1. The machine used is a cylinder and dial machine having cylinder needles and dial needles R which for purposes of illustration are shown in the same plane, Figs. 2 and 3 not shown. To insert the separating yarn 1 as shown in Fig. 1 to knit with loops 8 of the fabric, yarn is fed to the needles Z and behind the latches of the needles R so that as alternate wales of the fabric are knitted on to the dial and cylinder needles then the wales B containing the knitted loops of yarn 1 will be left supported on the needles Z and the needles R will be free from fabric. To remove knitting after the insertion of the separating yarn 1 a yarn 2 is fed to the latches of needles Z and behind the latches of needles R and a yarn 4 is fed to the needles R through the latches of the needles Z. The Z needles then pull the loops of the yarn 2 through the loops of the separating yarn 1 and the needles R pull the loops of yarn 4 through the newly produced loops of the yarn 2.
